About the event
On September 29 at 6:00 pm (AM) / 7:00 pm (DF), we will receive Professor Conrado Hubner Mendes to discuss institutional reforms that could be addressed to the Judiciary.
Conrado Hübner Mendes is Professor of Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of São Paulo. He holds a PhD in Law from the University of Edinburgh (UoE), Master and Doctor in Political Science from the University of São Paulo (FFLCH-USP). His master's thesis and doctoral thesis were elected the best in the Department of Political Science at USP in 2004 and 2008. He received an honorable mention in the Capes Theses Prize in 2010. His book "Constitutional Courts and Deliberative Democracy" (2013) received the Prize Victor Nunes Leal, from the Brazilian Political Science Association (ABCP). He was HLA Hart Fellow at Oxford University, Visiting Fellow at Max Planck Institute Heidelberg, Georg Forster Fellow at Humboldt University and Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin and Hauser Research Scholar at New York University. He was Ambassador-Scientist at the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (2014-2020). And member of the Science, Research and Freedom Observatory of the Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science (SBPC). He is a researcher at the Center for Analysis of Freedom and Authoritarianism (LAUT). His research areas are: separation of powers, constitutional review, constitutional jurisprudence and the Supreme Court; fundamental rights, theories of democracy and justice.
